OUR VIEWS

KERRYN AMERY

"Coburg already has a culturally diverse community that is enjoyed and valued by residents. The planned changes for the retail precinct in Sydney Road have the potential to remove the unique, diverse, colourful character of that shopping area. Increased rentals are inevitable. These increases are likely to have an adverse impact on many current retailers who may not be able to sustain such rental increases."

WILMA KURVINK

"My biggest concern is that the council appears to play in the hands of developers, instead of setting out responsible briefs to them to provide socially, environmental and ethically responsible housing."

LEILA BYRNE

"There is already a clear lack of green and public space in central Coburg. This has not been dealt with well and if built surrounded by tall buildings they would not be pleasant places to be and deter people from coming to Coburg. Docklands is a good example of this, where any personality has been stripped from the place at the developers whim."

MYLES GREEN

"I support the rejuvenation of central Coburg, but believe it must be done in such a way to enhance the liveability of the suburb, for all its residents. I don't believe that 10 storey buildings next to people's homes with no green spaces enhances amenity at all. In fact, it does quite the opposite."

OLGA SLEDZ

"I believe 10 storey buildings are inappropriate development & will detrimentally impact on the historical character of central Coburg. I believe that, at a time when there’s already glut of apartment buildings in central Melbourne, that 10 storey buildings are totally unnecessary. I have concerns about inadequate planning for public transport & other necessary infrastructure for such a large population increase in Coburg."
